I learned something new today. Chiptole is a peanut free and nut free restaurant. And to top it off it is an excellent, organic, hormone free and almost completely antibiotic free restaurant.

Free and Clear Shampoo
Some children who have a peanut allergy also have severe eczema. When we visited our allergist we were given some samples of Free and Clear Shampoo. After two weeks I saw a dramatic difference in my son’s scalp. His scalp was so severely taken over by eczema that Dermasmooth, a prescription oil, did not help. I found Free and Clear shampoo on Amazon for $10 for 12 ounces. The same company also produces conditioner, cleanser and styling products.
Temporary Tattoos
I debated back and forth about getting my 1 year old a bracelet or necklace for his peanut allergy. I envisioned him playing with it or breaking it. Then, I heard about tattoos for kids that say “No Nuts Please. Genius! I ordered 10! One Step Ahead carries them but I found the shipping was cheaper if you bought them straight from the manufacturer at: http://tattooswithapurpose.com
Thank You Ben and Jerry's
Did you know that if you go to a Ben and Jerry’s shop for ice cream they will open up a brand new carton of any ice cream for your peanut allergy kid! Fresh scooper included. Kudos Ben and Jerry’s for making our outing just a little bit easier.
The EpiPen Jr.
Now, that I am the owner of a 6 EpiPen Juniors I am trying to figure out the best way to keep the EpiPen Jr following my son around. We have one at daycare, one at my in-laws house, one in my purse and 3 extras. I was thinking about getting him a Preschool Pottery Barn Kids backpack with his name on it. Suggestions appreciated.
Who Am I?
Who am I? I am the mother of a very active 4 year old and a sweet one year old son who has a peanut allergy. My son has had severe eczema since birth. He has had ear tubes, a Doc Band, circumcision surgery and has been in physical therapy for torticollis since he was two months old. We had him tested because of his severe eczema. The allergy tests concluded that he was a Level 5 for allergies to cats, Level 3 allergies to dogs and other hairy animals and a candidate for many allergies in the future. The worst result of the test was that he was a level 5 for a peanut allergy at a score of 58. I was shocked. How could my son have a peanut allergy? My side of the family has no allergies. My husband’s side of the family has allergies, skin issues and asthma. So this begins my blog about all the interesting things I have learned about peanut allergies…
